School Direct Training Routes are fee paying routes provided by schools, working in partnership with a SCITT or University.

This is a ‘hands on’ training route supported by excellent theoretical training. You wi need to hold a first degree of a United Kingdom higher education institution or equivalent qualification; normally we would require that 50% of the degree be relevant to the subject you wish to teach; If the degree does not link closely enough, we would require an A level in that subject and a Subject Knowledge Enhancement Course would also be recommended. You will need to have achieved a standard equivalent to grade 4 in the GCSE examinations in English and Mathematics. We take safeguarding seriously to protect children and young people from trainee teachers that may put them at risk of harm, and as part of our recruitment process, will conduct interviews and background checks to access suitability for our courses and to ensure that the applicant has the potential to meet Teacher’s Standards by the end of the course.

If you are accepted onto this route, we will ordinarily place you in two partnership schools during the year. The fees for this route are £9,250 inclusive of your University fee. If eligible, you can apply for a Student Loan or self-fund.

The School Direct Salaried Route is offered by schools, working in partnership with a SCITT or University. On this route your fee is paid by your employing school and you will receive a salary on thee unqualified teachers’ pay scale for the duration of your training.

Occasionally, schools may offer a salaried place. These schools are keen to find high-quality trainees and invest in your school direct training with a promise of a job in the school at the end of the training if an appropriate position becomes available. Salaried places on offer are dependant on schools identifying the need for an NQT teacher and will only be offered for subjects for which there is a vacancy, therefore not all subjects will have a salaried place on offer. Please contact the administration team for more information.
