What Can I Train To teach?

What routes are available?

Most of our primary courses offer a PGCE with Masters credits. All our Primary Teacher Training courses include a sports coaching qualification, awarded by the Football Association. All courses have a specific code that you will need. You can find this on the APPLY WEBSITE and on this handy list PRIMARY COURSES

There are the 4 main routes which you will choose from:

Fee Paying QTS only: This route is in order to obtain Qualified teacher status but without the Postgraduate Certificate in Education

Fee Paying PGCE + QTS: This route is in order to obtain Qualified teacher status and the Postgraduate Certificate in Education which is useful for international work and further academic qualifications eg. Masters in Education

Salaried graduate apprentice PGCE + QTS: School Direct Training Routes are fee paying routes provided by schools, working in partnership with a SCITT and University.

Assessment only: If you are currently working as an unqualified graduate teacher in a school, you may be able to gain Qualified Teacher Status via the Assessment Only route into teaching. You can find more information on this page and will need to use this application form. Here is a downloadable Word version.

Can I specialise?

We offer specialist routes for primary teachers who wish to tailor their training in SEND, PE, Behaviour and Maths. These are specific courses which must be selected when applying for a course. PRIMARY COURSE codes

All teachers can access enhanced training in Maths, SEND, Behaviour and Leadership. This is less of a time commitment.
