Train to Teach Through the Apprenticeship Route
The Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship is a practical, school-based, salaried route that lets you earn while you learn. You’ll gain classroom experience, contribute to your school community, and achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with Essex & Thames Education SCITT.
The Programme
- Duration: August to July
- In-School Training: 4 days per week in your school
- Off-the-Job Training: 1 day per week off-site (face-to-face and online lectures, on-demand content, and interactive online modules) and 1 day per week on-site for PPA and observation of expert colleagues
- Alternate Placement: Statutory short placement in a different key stage and school to broaden experience
- Intensive Training and Practice (ITaP): 4 statutory off-the-job training weeks throughout the year
Why Choose the Apprenticeship Route
The Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship allows you to train to teach while you work, combining paid employment in a school with high-quality training that leads to QTS. It’s an excellent opportunity to earn, learn, and make a difference from day one.
