Teacher Training Recruitment Process
Here’s what you can expect during your interview with Essex and Thames SCITT:
- Introduction to Essex and Thames SCITT – Get to know our programme and what we are all about.
- Teaching Presentation – You will deliver a 5-7 minute teaching activity, aimed at the age group you’re applying for. After your presentation, we’ll have a short discussion and ask a few questions.
- Written Task – You’ll watch a video of an experienced teacher in action, you will then hand write a short analysis of what you observed.
- A one-on-one chat with a team member. This is where we will ask questions and in turn you will be able to ask questions and discuss your individual training needs with us.
The key qualities that are important to us and what we will be looking for during the interview are:

- Understanding of what a teacher’s role involves
- Dedication to the teaching profession
- A real passion for helping children learn and grow
- Great communication skills -Resilience and the ability to handle challenges

- High standards for personal and professional conduct
What happens after the interview?
Typically we will let you know if you have been successful on the day, although occasionally, we do recall some candidates for further assessment.
