Early Years Initial Teacher Training (EYITT)

Early Years Initial Teacher Training (EYITT) is a nationally recognised route to Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS) for graduates working in early years settings. The Graduate Employment Based (GEB) route allows trainees to remain employed while completing a fully funded Level 6 professional teaching qualification.

Funded by the Department for Education, EYITT supports the development of high-quality early years teachers by strengthening practice directly within settings.

Graduate Employment Based (GEB) route

The Graduate Employment Based route is an employment-led pathway that enables graduate practitioners to train while working in their current early years setting. Training is structured, part-time and practical, allowing learning to be applied directly to day-to-day work with children from birth to five.

This route benefits both individuals and settings by developing teaching expertise without removing staff from the workforce.

EYITT is suitable for:

  • Graduate practitioners working in early years settings who want to progress into a qualified teaching role
